Just turned 21 today :D. I still look and sound like a 16 year old though. Fuck. Anyways, I thought I should make a journal to give an update on the future of my deviations and whether or not I'm still not dead. The answer to the latter question, no I'm not dead yet.

Anyways, I have been doing some improvements on my art style and I am planning on changing some of my old habits. One thing I realized I was doing incorrectly was that I was limiting my ponies' facial structure to a circle like the show's style, but it never feels right to me. I'm trying to experiment with the way I draw ponies so they have more identifiable features that sets them apart from a generic pony. Nothing too extreme, but I'm especially focusing on facial structure, which is usually my biggest obstacle when it comes to drawing. It's still a work in progress. I'm also trying to experiment with shading and coloring styles, because I'm a bit tired of seeing flat colors.

Also, you may have noticed, but recently I've been drawing less ponies than usual, but there's a reason for that. I've been struggling with anatomy in general, and I feel somewhat trapped if I draw just ponies. That being said, I am not going to limit myself to ponies, so expect to see art for more than just that. I'm not going to stop drawing ponies, but I will draw other things as well. Some of these include fanart of other games like Super Smash Bros, but I'm especially planning on a project of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon related drawings. To those who don't know, PMD is a game where your character wakes up as a Pokemon with amnesia (minus the fact that you know you were a human and that you had a name). The game I'm planning on making a series of pictures for is PMD Explorers of Sky. What I want to do is to try to draw my character's and partner's experiences throughout the game. I personally loved the concept and the story of the game, as well as the characters and the feels it brings. The only struggle I will have with the number of pics I got planned. I might weed out some of the picture ideas, but I written down all the ideas for future pics in this series and I got 28 picture ideas... I still really want to get them all out though. The very last one in the series is the reason I want to draw these pictures, so I think I'll have something to look forward to. Here's a sneak preview of what I got so far. My character's a Riolu and my partner's a Pikachu btw. I hope people will like the series as well as other future pics I decide to draw c:

Dazed Lucina by HaloPrime
Dazed Lucina
Holy shit, it's been FOREVER since my last deviation! Double holy shit, it's the first time I drew a human!!

For /u/c-lusion :3 They wanted a picture of Lucina (from Fire Emblem: Awakening and the upcoming Super Smash Bros for 3DS and Wii U) to look dazed or like she was seeing stars, so I thought it would be a good exercise to draw something that wasn't pony. I'm trying to do more stuff outside of pony drawings so I can start to learn how to draw more diverse subjects. More about that later c:

Fun Facts:
-The entire picture's creation took nine hours, non stop drawing (woohoo, I didn't rage quit mid-sketch and prolong the drawing!)
-I experimented with a hair texturing brush as well as some subtle shading with an air brush.
-Trying to figure out and draw the expression alone took 90 minutes (I couldn't find an easy way to show Lucina with a dazed expression, this is the best I could do.)
-I had to edit the deviation to retexture the hair by the cape. Whoops.

I finally picked up my tablet again, after a year of frustration. I have been struggling with the most irritating art block that made me want to throw my tablet out the second I would open a new canvas, but I still have that sort of frustration. I don't know why, but I think it's mostly because it is frustrating to start up a sketch. I'm trying to get back into the groove of drawing, so I hope those who are following me can forgive me for my long absence.

Anyways, I was wanting to draw some Smash Bros related art for a while, but with my art block, this was the best I could muster up. I feel it might be cheap (especially since he doesn't have a face), but I just needed to draw something. This wasn't exactly intended to be a full on art piece, but just something to draw. I'm kind of annoyed with the pose and the background, but oh well.

Again, I apologize for the long absence, I'm going to try to get back into the groove of drawing.

I use Paint Tool SAI and Photoshop to do most of my works. Most of the stuff I will do is MLP related. I don't do free works, but commissions are possible. If you want one, send me a note, but no guarantees on me being able to do them.
